Today's Wisdom: When Life is Busy, Slow it Down
Today's quote comes from a Jack Johnson song: "Slow down everyone, you're moving too fast."  What's the point of rushing around and doing everything "your supposed to do" and accomplishing and achieving?  What is the point if you never slow down to enjoy the miracle of everday instead of losing your head two hours or two days ahead in the future of "all those things I have to get done"? Slow down, if just for a moment.

Daily Wisdom: Live for Today

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will care for itself. Today has enough trouble of its own."- Matthew 6:34

The future will take care of itself if you just do all that you can do in the present without worry, but with faith.

Daily Wisdom: Appreciate Every Good Day
It feels so good when things finally start to go right after they've been going bad.  Like if you've been sick for two weeks and then finally that day comes when you get out of bed and the cough is gone and the energy has returned.  You feel so thankful for your health and for your life that you just want to jump up and down and shout to the heavens.  So why don't we do that on every day of good health that we have?  Don't get complacent in paying attention to how good things are when they are good.  You'll be begging for these days again one day.

Daily Wisdom: Monday Morning Wisdom
Quote of the Day:  Happiness depends more on the inward disposition of mind than on outward circumstances. -Benjamin Franklin

No matter where you are or what you have, your mind has the power to be happy.

Daily Wisdom: Embrace Your Challenges
Bad times are a reason to celebrate.  Being down is filled with optimism. What? Really? Yes. Finding yourself caught in a struggle when everyone else feels that you are losing is just the time when the most glorious achievements occur.  When watching a sporting contest, which game seemed more exciting, the one where your team won 100-0, or the one where your team was down by a seemingly insurmountable deficit with just minutes remaining only to see them come back and win.  Which victory seemed sweeter?  So you see, when your down it is just the perfect opportunity to rise up to a spectacular finish, a fantastic outcome, a rewarding experience.  Be thankful that you are given challenges in life that awawken you to your true potential to succeed.

Daily Wisdom: Abandon Fear, Embrace Faith
Franklin Roosevelt once said, "The only thing to fear is fear itself." How right he was.  Today it seems that most of what motivates the world is fear. People fear losing their jobs, their relationships, their money, their security, and their lives.  People will push and step over anyone in their way to their dream of success out of fear that they won't achieve their end goal otherwise.  The fact is that it is the fear of loss that often creates the loss to happen.  What you think about most is most likely to come true. Don't let fear enter your lives and don't let those in power use fear as a tool over how you think and how you live your life.  Let faith and common sense rule your mind instead. A goal achieved out of faith is a dream come true; A dream manipulated out of fear is a nightmare.

Daily Wisdom: Redefine Success

How do you define your success? Is your inspiration for success determined on what the world defines for you, or do you have your own ideals that guide you?  Do you strive for money and possessions and power because that is what the world defines as being important and successful, or do you simply seek happiness?  If you simply want to be happy, then keep that as the focus of your drive to achieve instead.  Don't let the world dictate your idea of succcess.  Your feeling of success will be your own, not someone else's.

Daily Wisdom: Consistency is the Key!

Be consistent.  Anyone can have a dream, but what are they doing about it on a daily basis.  You can't just put your dreams in a closet and dust them off every few months.  Don't make New Year's resolutions, make daily resolutions. Resolve yourself to doing something, anything, even if it involves just a few minutes of action towards your goals.  You can often accomplish more in consistent little pieces than in infrequent big ones.  Stop starting over and over from square one when the mood strikes.  Instead work consistently towards your dreams on a daily basis.

Daily Wisdom: "This too shall pass."
"This too shall pass."  Every moment of every day is still just one temporary moment.  Whether good or bad, today will give way to another day filled with more fleeting moments.  So remember, when times are bad, don't worry, they soon will go away.  When times are good, cherish and appreciate them for they too are temporary.  The good days are more likely to replaced by more good days if enjoyed and not taken for granted.  The bad days are more likely to be replaced with more bad days if dwelled upon.  So break this quote into two parts of "Don't stress" and "Enjoy the moment" for "This too shall pass."  Quote attributed to Solomon, Abraham Lincoln, and 1 Corinthians 10:12.

Daily Wisdom: Be Aware of Your Internal Monologue
Ever get that song stuck in your head?  You know how that one song keeps repeating in your head, and then you turn on the TV or the radio and there it is again.  You just can't seem to get away from it.  You just keep humming it all day long whether you like it or not.  Well the same is true of just regular thoughts rolling through your head.  Either the positive ones repeat themselves over and over and over again, or the negative ones do.  The internal thoughts you pay attention to grow and grow.  So be careful what you think about.  Keep it positive, keep it inspired.

Daily Wisdom: I Can Do It!
Today's mantra is "I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it." Let no other thoughts of doubt enter your mind.  Let that little engine in the storybook be your guide today.

Daily Wisdom: Discover Your Unique Perspective
Since the birth of my daughter, my son has made a few unique observations about life.  Two of my favorite comments of his have been, "Ears are like little baby monitors on your head" and "My sister thinks everyone is a toilet."  Everyone, child and adult, has their own unique observations about how things work in this life.  What are yours?  Discover the beauty that fills your own unique path.

Daily Wisdom: Long Term Success Requires Long Term Vision
Be willing to accept short term losses in exchange for long term gains.  Obstacles to success can either be taken as a sign to stop your current quest or they may be signs that the reward at the end of this trail is even better than you originally thought.  When was the last time you received a huge amount of satisfaction from completing something that was easy?  One step, even two steps backwards is hardly a sacrifice for eventually completing the marathon of a task before you.  Bumpy roads do lead to happiness.  Let your obstacles be a source of inspiration to the end result that lies ahead. No one ever planted their flag on a mountain top by walking everyday on flat ground.

Daily Wisdom: Boycott Cable News
Today some practical advice instead of dream speak.  Whether liberal or conservative in your views, I reccomend that you boycott cable news, at least for a couple of weeks.  Just to see how you feel or how your perspective changes.  In fact, don't be afraid to take a vacation from the news in general.  There's enough people talking around you to where you will be filled in on the major headlines anyway.  Today's news, or should I say subjective opinion journalism market, which offers no thought provoking intelligent dialogue or information, is only fueled by our human hunger for strife, conflict, and the reinforcement of our own ego driven ideologies.  Even the shows that just show news instead of talking heads, simply repeat and repeat the same tired news stories all day long of the death and destruction of the world around us.  Despite everything that is wrong in the world, the are more things that are right.  There are billions more good people doing good things in this world then there are bad people.  Why give 100% of the spotlight to the bad.  Don't let "the experts" control your view of reality.  You have a unique perspective on the world that no one else does, discover it while you unplug from the news for a while.  Your blood pressure may decrease, you may breathe easier, your stress level will decline, and you may even discover a hidden spirit of optimism and faith in the world.  You have enough things to worry about in your own little world anyway.  Your assignment of inspiration today: Boycott The News!

Daily Wisdom: Believe in Yourself

Would you rather go through life fearing failure and thus not attempting anything worthwhile?  Is it better to play it safe and not take any risks because you are afraid of what others will say?  Odds are that the risk is worth the reward.  Don't go through life regretting things that you never did or never tried.  As Lucille Ball once said, "I’d rather regret the things I’ve done, than regret the things I haven’t done."  If you fail in your efforts, the worst thing that can happen is that you are back where you started.  However, if you, when you succeed you will have achieved more than what you originally sought after.  You will have gained the confidence to continue to reach for previously thought unreachable dreams and goals.  The great English poet Alfred Lord Tennyson pointed out that, "Tis better to have loved and lost, then to never have loved at all."  So believe in yourself and your ability to make that image in your head a reality.

Daily Wisdom: Little Dreams

The little dreams can be just as important as the really big dreams.  It those little victories that happen everyday, if you're observant enough to notice them happening, that can boost your confidence and belief in the possibility of the big dreams coming true.  Little miracles happen everyday.  Just think of all the little things you get done everyday without even putting forth much effort.  Just think of all the big things you could accomplish if you did focus your thoughts and efforts.  As the great painter, Vincent Van Gogh once said, "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together."  Today, just take time to notice all the little dreams coming true instead of stressing about the big ones that have yet to come true.

Daily Wisdom: Choose Your Adventure
If you haven't heard of Zac Sunderland, just google his name.  Just a month ago, at the age of 17, he became the youngest person to sail alone around the world.  He left California when he was 16 and completed his journey 13 months later.  He faced near death experiences along the way, not to mention having to be completely self reliant.  I am sure a little faith in himself and of events out of himself helped a little too.  If his story is not an inspiration, I'm not sure what qualifies.  This proves you're never too young to accomplish something specatcular.  Life is one big adventure and it is never too late, or too early, to choose one and get started.   If a 17 year old can sail around the world on his own, what can I do?  Find something that makes you happy, something you are passionate about, set your goals high, and just go for it.

Daily Wisdom: The Beginning

My son recently wanted a piece of french bread.  He asked me, "Can I have the beginning of the bread?"  I said, You mean you want one of the end pieces?"  "No.  The beginning pieces," he clarified for me.  I suddenly realized that he was right.  There really are no "ends" in reality. The end of one thing is always the beginning of something else.  There is no end to life.  There is no end to the world.  There are only transitions, new possibilities, and new beginnings that awaits us every moment of every day. Here lies another path to inspiration and happiness: See the beginning in everything.
